Ethereum Classic is the original Ethereum code prior to the disagreement between the community after the DAO Hack in 2016. The community were split up over the platform’s Integrity vs Immutability. Members who did not support the the fork stayed on the original platform by not upgrading the software. This created an incompatibility between the versions which created a fork in the proverbial road. ETC has the maximum supply in circulation at 101,311,147 tokens. ETC’s consensus is Proof of Work (PoW) and the token functions as both a utility (transaction fees etc. on the platform) and as a currency for the exchange of goods or services. ETC’s Roadmap is currently focused on bringing Ethereum Classic to the Internet of Things (IoT) and scaling through sidechains.
